Altar Servers

The Altar Server's Ministry is a unique one in the Catholic Church. Other than priests and deacons, no one else is allowed to so closely play a part in the preparation of the Eucharist. Your participation as an Altar Server is special. When you serve the priests and deacons, you serve the people of God, and above all, you serve Christ. The role of altar server is open to ages grade 4 and older.  We especially encourage adults, both young and old, to participate in this important ministry as we are all children of God. Our Lord assured us that those who mourn are blessed, and that they shall be comforted.  Seasons of Hope offers the bereaved an opportunity to come together to share God's love.  With the support of the faith community, we can give voice to our unique journeys of grief and find healing and spritual growth.  Seasons of Hope sessions help us explore mourning through scripture, prayer, reflection activities and faith sharing.

Seasons of Hope is centered on Jesus Christ and grounded in the healing wisdom, traditions, and practices of the Catholic Church.

Each year, many families face the loss of ones who are members of the parish.  Our Catholic tradition provides funeral support and now Seasons of Hope can carry that caring spirit into the difficult period that follows when grief can overwhelm.  It also servers those who mourn loved ones from outside our parish community.  They too may feel isolated, empty, and broken hearted.

For those searching for hope, a Seasons of Hope group is a nuturing link to the Chruch, the Almighty, and other people of the faith who are also mourning.   Come and be comforted.

Caritas of St. Jude is an apostolate which serves the needy in our parish and our community.

  • We give assistance for utility, rent, or medical needs.
  • We sponsor a community meal the fourth Thursday of each month for people in need of food and /or fellowship.
  • We maintain a food pantry which is stocked by donations from our parishioners.
  • Food assistance is given when requested.
  • We also distribute food boxes at the community meal and at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
  • If you are interested in helping to meet the mission of this apostolate, please contact Nancy Tompkins at (330) 482-9330.

Our choir is made up of a group of volunteers who like to sing. Not all of us read music and most of us do not do solos. With a lot of practice and much repetition, we manage to praise God with our voices.

  • We gladly accept new members!
  • If you cannot be there every weekend, that is ok.
  • We sing at the 4:00 PM Mass on Saturday.  We meet at 3:30 PM for warm-up.
  • Choir rehearsals are on Monday evenings from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM.
  • We sing from mid-September to the middle of June.

Join us!  Praising God in song is like praying twice!

Divine Mercy Prayer Group

Our group is an outreach for the spiritual work of mercy to pray with the sick or dying in order to bring God’s message of mercy to them.

If you’d like a prayer team to pray with you or a loved one, call the church office or the Divine Mercy number on the front of the bulletin.

We meet on the second Monday of the month at 9:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church hall.

If you are interested in being a part of this apostolate or would like to learn more about the Divine Mercy message, please join us.

Lord Jesus, we place our trust in you!

New Life in the Spirit Prayer Group

The New Life in the Spirit Prayer Group is a charismatic prayer group that developed as a follow-up to a Life in the Spirit Seminar held in 2004 here at St Jude.  We gather for praise, worship, teachings, and intercession for personal, parish, and general needs. We foster the use and knowledge of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. All are welcome to our monthly meetings which are held on the 3rd Wednesday at 7pm in the conference room.
