CCD (Confraternity of Christian Doctrine)

The ministry of catechesis supports parents in their role as primary educators of their children by offering Faith Formation for Pre-K through 8 children so they can discover the joy of our Catholic Faith.

This program includes classes, family sessions, special events, as well as celebrating and preparing for the sacraments. Children in Grades 4-6 are offered extra opportunities to grow in faith through our Junior Youth Ministry, as well as are teens in grades 7th and 8th with the Junior High Youth Ministry.

Once confirmed, high school students are invited to continue their faith formation through our dynamic youth ministry program – ABLAZE

Our Home Faith Program

This program is designed for parents to use at home in place of the Sunday morning sessions held throughout the school year. If you are interested in the option of teaching your children from home, the Office of Religious Education will happily provide you with the resources needed for your child’s faith formation.
*Cannot home school for grades 2 and 8.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
Pre-K and Kindergarten – NEW FOR 20/21

The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a program for the faith and spiritual formation of the child. The focus of the program is:

  • to deepen the child’s existing relationship with God;
  • to encourage the formation of a personal prayer life;
  • to participate fully in the liturgical and sacramental life of the Church;
  • and to develop a deeper understanding of Catholic identity and tradition.

This is accomplished by using

 1. a specially prepared environment;

2. child-directed activity;

3. an adult as servant and observer.

Level One encourages children ages 3-6 to develop their innate potential for a faith-filled relationship with God. They encounter Jesus, the Good Shepherd who loves them, cares for them, and knows them by name. Catechesis includes Scripture, Mass gestures, prayers, artwork, and music. Level One is for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten children.

This is accomplished through the use of materials, prayer, song, listening to the Word of God, and giving the child time to work with the materials provided. All lessons are presented using methods that encourage the child to work with a variety of easily accessible materials. This program will begin in January 2021!
