Are you looking for a way to serve your Church and deepen your faith? We are currently seeking dedicated parishioners who are interested in serving as Altar Servers, Extraordinary Ministers, and Lectors. This is a wonderful opportunity to engage with the liturgy and with your Church Community.
An altar server is a lay assistant to a member of the clergy during a Christian liturgy. The role of an altar server is to attend to supporting tasks at the altar such as fetching and carrying, ringing the altar bell, helping bring up the gifts, and bringing up the liturgical books, among other things
A lector is a person who reads the Scripture lessons in a church service. The role of a lector is to proclaim the Word of God to the congregation speaking clearly and concise, being mindful of the context.
An Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion is a lay member of the faithful or a person in religious or consecrated life who has been deputed to help distribute Holy Communion when a sufficient number of ordinary ministers are not present, available or capable, and when the priest celebrant has determined that pastoral need requires their help. The term “extraordinary” distinguishes such a person from the ordinary minister of Holy Communion, namely a bishop, priest or deacon. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion should receive sufficient spiritual, theological, and practical preparation to fulfill their role with knowledge and reverence. In all matters, they should follow the guidance of the diocesan bishop.
